PICRAT and SAMR
Questions:
1. How can Teacher Librarians encourage teachers to integrate new technology to transform student learning when those teachers are not interested or have anxiety around learning new and unfamiliar technology?
2. How can the library learning commons become a hub for demonstrating and integrating technology into student learning?

Hi Rachel, before getting into your questions, I just want to mention how visually pleasing your mindmap is.
ReplyDeleteI feel that your two questions are interlinked. For teachers that have anxiety around using new technology, a lot of their fears come from their unfamiliarity with the technology. I think that a regular generic email about a different piece of technology might go under the radar. Teachers that already use technology regularly might be interested, but it is unlikely to entice fearful teachers to use it.
I would ask school admin for teachers year-plans that were submitted at the start of the year and look to where you think technology could benefit that teacher. Then either email or talk to that staff member about co-teaching using that technology.
EG, you see that the grade 3 teacher is looking to teach about biodiversity in term 2. At the start of term 2, you could show the g3 teacher a useful bit of technology (like the PictureThis app to help identify leaves) and offer to teach that lesson together.
