Updating the Plan
You can access the previous Linoit board here. I chose three photos to add to my library re-design that demonstrate a potential for the space. First, I chose a photo of a makerspace wall. I like this photo because it takes up minimal space and would be a concept I would use in my current school's library due to lack of available space. By having a makerspace wall, students could have the tools to engage with design thinking in the library. I received some feedback that a wall may make it hard for some students to reach the materials they need. I have updated my design with a rolling cart instead. You can view the updated linoit board at the end of this post. Second, I included a photo of moveable walls. I indicated where the walls may fit in my layout and walls would make the library space more flexible to accommodate two separate classes in the space at the same time. By freeing up some space, classroom teachers would have the option to bring their classes in to use the ma...

Matthew here.
ReplyDeleteRachel, that first question is certainly a top priority and it makes sense that all other questions should follow it. Many of your questions mirror my own, so it's easy for me to agree with them.
A wish: That some of them were more concise. For example, without losing your intended meaning, could #4 be revised to read, "Can this technology be adapted for the needs of all my learners?" I trended to a "less is better" approach, but maybe my five questions lack precision.
I like the staggered layout and the font is crisp, but I find that with dark text in grey boxes on a dark background, the text doesn't "pop". Perhaps a brighter font?
Hi Rachel,
ReplyDeleteI like that your questions incorporate pedagogy, safety and the use of technology itself. To echo Matthew's comments, I agree that the text colour doesn't stand out clearly. Using the Canva colour wheel, maybe sage would be a good complementary.
Rachel - I like question 5. I feel this is such an important question because students often lose their work or forget to save it in the correct area. I know many districts have district-wide collaborating spaces for students and teachers to use - where work gets saved automatically in a shared drive. It's a matter of ensuring our students know how to effectively use these tools. As for your design, I really like the muted colours you've used. They're easy on the eyes. But like Phil and Matthew have mentioned, perhaps the font/text colour can be a bit darker.
